How long does a typical Rayleigh semi take to install?

Scaffold usually goes up a day or two before. The panels, inverter and wiring are typically fitted in one day for a 3–4kW system, with a battery adding half a day. Scaffold comes down a few days later once we have commissioned.

Do I need planning permission for solar panels?

On most houses in England, roof-mounted solar is permitted development and no application is needed, provided the panels do not project more than 200mm from the roof slope and the property is not a listed building. Flats, listed buildings and some conservation-area situations are different. We check your property's status as part of the survey and tell you before you commit.

Will you handle the paperwork with the electricity network?

Yes. We submit the G98 notification or G99 application to UK Power Networks, provide the commissioning certificates you need for a Smart Export Guarantee tariff, and register the installation on the relevant databases.

How quickly can you come out?

Surveys across Essex are usually booked within a week or two of your enquiry. Installation dates depend on the time of year, scaffold availability and any DNO approval needed for larger systems — we give you a realistic date in the quotation.
