Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy explains how BLANKSOLAR LTD, trading as BlankSolar ("we", "us"), collects and uses personal information when you visit this website, contact us, or ask us to survey, quote for or install a solar or battery system. We are the data controller for that information.

Contact for privacy matters: hello@blanksolar.com · 01376 297267 · BLANKSOLAR LTD, Unit G4, The Plaza, 1 Rutherford Park, Braintree, Essex, CM77 7AU, England.

1. The information we collect

When you contact us or request a survey or quote — your name, email address, telephone number, property address, and anything you tell us about your property, energy use and requirements.

When we survey, design or install a system — property details and photographs, roof and electrical information, your electricity supplier and MPAN, meter readings, consumption data, and the details needed to register your installation (for example with your Distribution Network Operator and the MCS database) and to apply for export tariffs or grants on your behalf.

When you pay us or use finance — invoicing and payment details. We do not store full card numbers.

When you visit this website — technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, collected through server logs and the cookies described in our cookie policy. We do not currently run third-party analytics on this site.

When you give feedback or make a complaint — the content of your correspondence and our records of how it was handled.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not collect special-category data unless you choose to tell us something relevant to the work (for example an access requirement during installation).

2. How and why we use it

| Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) | | --- | --- | | Responding to enquiries, arranging surveys and preparing quotations | Taking steps at your request before entering a contract | | Designing, installing, commissioning and supporting your system | Performance of a contract | | Registering your installation and certificates (e.g. MCS, DNO notification, Building Regulations, warranties) | Legal obligation and performance of a contract | | Helping you apply for export tariffs, grants or finance where you ask us to | Performance of a contract / your consent | | Handling feedback and complaints, including referrals to our consumer code or ADR provider | Legitimate interests and legal obligation | | Keeping business, tax and accounting records | Legal obligation | | Keeping the website secure and understanding how it is used | Legitimate interests | | Telling you about relevant services or offers | Your consent, or legitimate interests for existing customers (you can opt out at any time) |

We do not sell personal information and we do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

3. Who we share it with

We share personal information only where necessary and with appropriate safeguards:

  • Suppliers and subcontractors who help deliver the work — for example scaffolding contractors, electricians, equipment manufacturers (for warranty registration) and our IT, email and accounting providers.
  • Certification and regulatory bodies — including the MCS certification database, our certification body, TrustMark, our consumer code and ADR provider, Building Control, and your Distribution Network Operator.
  • Your energy supplier, finance provider or grant administrator where you have asked us to act for you.
  • Professional advisers and insurers, and public authorities where the law requires it.
  • A buyer or successor if our business is sold or restructured, in which case the recipient will be bound by this policy.

Some service providers (for example email or hosting providers) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to protect your information.

4. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a contract: up to 2 years from last contact.
  • Customer, installation and certification records: for the life of the equipment warranties and any workmanship guarantee, and in any case at least 6 years after the contract ends, to meet our legal, tax and accreditation obligations.
  • Complaint records: 6 years from closure.
  • Website logs: typically no more than 12 months.

When information is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it securely.

5. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • ask us to erase information, or restrict how we use it, in certain circumstances;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
  • receive the information you provided to us in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.

To exercise any right, email hello@blanksolar.com. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, although we would welcome the chance to address your concern first.

6. Security

We protect personal information with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including access controls, encrypted connections to this website, and staff awareness of data protection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you and the ICO where the law requires if a breach affects your information.

7. Cookies and third-party content

Our cookie policy describes the cookies used on this site. Pages that embed Google Maps load content from Google, which may set its own cookies; Google's use of that information is governed by Google's privacy policy.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
