What happens on a solar survey
A survey is how we measure your roof, electrics, and energy use before anyone commits to panels. Here is what to expect, and what you will receive afterwards.

A solar survey is a technical visit, not a sales appointment. We collect the measurements, photos, and electrical information needed to design a system that is safe, sized for how you actually use electricity, and documented properly.
BlankSolar carries out surveys from our base in Braintree, Essex, and takes on properties across the United Kingdom.
Before we arrive
It helps to have a recent electricity bill, and to mention anything that will change how you use power — an electric vehicle, a heat pump, an extension, or a plan to add battery storage later.
We will confirm access, parking, and whether you need to be present for the whole visit. Most domestic surveys take 45–90 minutes on site. Larger homes, commercial roofs, or properties with more than one consumer unit can take longer.
What we look at
Roof and structure. Orientation, pitch, usable area, and anything that shades the roof — chimneys, trees, dormers, and neighbouring buildings. Yield forecasts are only useful if shading is recorded honestly.
Electrics. The consumer unit, meter, and likely cable routes. We note whether the supply is single-phase or three-phase, and whether a distribution network operator (DNO) application is likely for the system size we expect.
How you use energy. Daytime usage, evening peaks, and any plans for storage or EV charging. That is what decides whether a smaller array, a larger array, or a battery is the sensible next step.
What you receive
You get a written proposal: panel layout, inverter choice, predicted generation, itemised pricing, and timelines. We explain warranties, export registration, and grants that may apply, without pressure to proceed.
There is no obligation to install with BlankSolar. If you do want to go ahead, we schedule the work, order equipment, and manage DNO notification where the system size requires it.
