Battery storage for UK homes
A battery lets you keep solar generation for the evening instead of exporting it straight away. Here is when it helps, and what installation involves.

Solar panels produce most of their energy in the middle of the day. Many homes use more electricity in the morning and evening. A battery stores some of that daytime generation so you can use it later.
It is not essential for every install. If most of your use is already during daylight, or the roof only suits a small array, a battery may not be the first priority. We will say so at survey stage.
What a typical install includes
- A battery sized to the array and to how you use power
- An inverter that can work with storage — either a hybrid inverter on a new system, or a compatible arrangement on an existing one
- Commissioning, monitoring access, and a clear handover
- Space and ventilation planned so the unit is safe and serviceable
We install equipment from manufacturers we specify regularly, including GivEnergy, Fox ESS, and Hanchu ESS where they suit the job.
Existing systems
Batteries can be added to many existing solar installs, but not every inverter will accept one without changes. An on-site look at the consumer unit, inverter, and cable routes is the reliable way to know. See battery storage installation for what the service covers.
What we will not promise
We will not tell you a battery will pay for itself in a set number of years. Tariffs, household use, and equipment prices all move. What we will do is show how storage changes self-use and export for your property, and quote the work in plain figures.
